Being a person that is so fond with developed overseas lifestyle and experienced a couple of years in Canada. I wondered why I didn't end up with Caucasian or people who have stayed there for ages.
For this, maybe I can use an example from me. Before that, I have to go back to my family history a bit. I were brought up in a Buddhist family who hold this belief. No sex before marriage. I've been input with the effect and how it will affect us in the future life; if we had sex before the marriage and such and such... Thus, it sticks in mind forever... I believe that it's not happened to me. It happens in most of the family.
Back to the belief again, in developed country, if u didn't get laid when you are 17 or 21, then you must be some geek or similar to that. In another words, they believe in this free sex thing. Well, I didn't say that all of them believe and apply this free sex. However, most of them are.
Well, what am trying to share here is. I don't think that it's bad to have free sex as long as u have a safe play. I tend to agree that people move in together before they get married. What is the point of getting married if it ends up to divorce?

Experience in the Swimming Pool
Mr. decided to bring Dave to play water in the swimming pool. It's inside the complex of our resident @ Cemara Asri. So, at 3.30 after Dave's nap and a lil meal, we drove to the swimming pool. It's extremely hot and I suggested to go in a little while. However, Mr. reluctant as he said that I'll complain it's too cold at 5 plus and Dave's will get cold, and bla..bla..bla..
It's not like I love to nag, but as usual, men don't really care if the children get sick. It's only mothers who are worried all night long...
As usual, in the beginning, Dave scared to go inside the pool. We had to pursuade him for about 5 minutes. Later on, he was enjoying himself so much. I didn't get into the pool as am so lazy to get change.
Dave's and daddy... still trying to persuade him slowly....
Afterwhile, Dave is enjoying himself....

Simple Life in Overseas with No Maid
Maybe we who live in Asia, especially in Indonesia have been spoiled by having maids around. For people in Medan, North-Sumatra, Indonesia, it's very common to have at least a maid in every household. We talk about people who are working or maybe those people with middle to higher income.
I imagine those working married-couple who have baby or infant or toddler. They still need to work and do household work and need to wake up in the middle of the night just to make formula milk. It's very tiring.
Dave nanny's quit due to her moving to another island at the end of the month; and it's time to look for a new nanny. She quit without notice on Monday. Very irresponsible, but then she's just a maid. What do you expect? Even professionals can be irresponsible also. Well, back to the topic. So, Monday and Tuesday with no maid. Have to do Dave's laundry by myself. Chasing him around for a couple hours, cooking his meal; it's just like working for couple of days.
I have to teach in the afternoon, so I have to leave Dave at home with his granny. Even his granny cannot handle him for a long time. But then, who can?
I imagine myself stay in overseas (developed countries). Life is nice for the long term, starts from the system that they have, health care, retirement plan, and such and such... But then there are a few things that am going to miss also, such as the transports, flexibility to have helper, and the best thing is no need to queue when we want to extend our license, passport... There's always a solution for a cheap agent.

Dave 18 Months
Updated: 20 April 2009
Dave is exactly 18 months today. So, what are the things that he has achieved so far? Not much though and I can't really make a comparison since he's the first.
Finally, I brought him to Dr. Johannes at Gleni International Hospital. The reason is because the time just suits me. I brought him after his class from Little Lamb and we reached the hospital at about 12 plus. It's more than half an hour journey due to the traffic. Our queue number is 40 and at that time it's only 25 (the queue number).
It's not fun to handle Dave alone in the waiting room. Finally at 2 o'clock, we went in and consult with the Doctor. As usual, the Doctor asked him to lie down and he cried. Remember the trauma that he had in the hospital the other time?
Well, then the Doctor checked the stomach and the anus. Dave has an acute constipation. Thus the doctor had this prescription Lactulax or lactulose. It's so called to make the feces softer? Everyday 10ml for a week, then reduce to 5ml for another week. If it's getting better than we can just stop the medicine.
Another thing is we have to control his diet. The doctor suggests the following things to be done:
1. Drink milk that you can get in any cold storage in the market, mall, or anywhere. Just like Ultra milk. Drink it every morning for 75 ml only.
2. Feed him with the fruits that full of fiber everyday, such as papaya, soursop, prune, jelly, etc.
Oh yah, the constipation is actually not a big idea. The thing that make it worse is, he's reluctant to poo coz it hurts everytime he poo. Thus, the feces is getting harder and then the same cycle repeat again and again.
So far, there are a few things that Dave loves to do or has achieved. He loves to clean up the floor by using his cloth or anything he can reach for. (He sees our maid clean up the home too much). He also loves to spray the water by using the hose. He can say mama, papa, nai-nai (grandmo from Mr. said), wet, duduk (sit in Indonesia), minum (drink in Indonesia), star, moon, cat, pig, car, book, blue, water, flower, two (he just miss one), bye-bye, bird, ear, nose, mouth, head, and so on... Oh yah, the favourite word... Bath...
Then he is able to complete the following word when we sing Twinkle twinkle Little Star... Star, Are, High, Sky....
and then One little two, little three, little Indian.... and he finishes the last part... "boy"...

Marketing & HRM
Back to school...
In order to be eligible to teach in the Institute, I need to have my Master degree. Thus, there are about 20 of us (lecturers) go back to school. It's quite convenience as we are having class only on Saturday and Sunday for every month. We had the classes in IT&B as the school invited the lecturers to come over for the lectures. A real executive class uh,....
Most of the classes are from 9-5 and I am doing double degree as in MBA from University of Wisconsin and MKom (Master in Computer) for local degree. Marketing and HRM were the subjects for last weekend. They are apparently quite interesting and those are my very new subjects, new information for me.
The pro is I can go back to school which is always my dream to further my study. The con is I have to leave Dave at home with Mr. I am really thankful for Mr.'s understanding. He took care of Dave for the whole day. Of course mother-in-law also plays important role in it also.
There is no real guidelines as in how long we can finish the subjects, however there are about 23 subjects to take from both overseas and local U....

Dave 17 Months +
For the first time Dave fell down terribly and hit his upper lip. Luckily his teeth are still fine. He fell down at the backyard while spinning around for a couple of times.
Day after he fell down. The lip is recovering...
Nowadays, he loves to move his body while listening to music or just make a spin for couple of times or take things from the floor and put them in the mouth.. can be anything.. paper.. ants.. (disgusting...?? yes...) How can I stop him from his last habit?
