Dave 18 Months

Updated: 20 April 2009

Dave is exactly 18 months today. So, what are the things that he has achieved so far? Not much though and I can't really make a comparison since he's the first.

Finally, I brought him to Dr. Johannes at Gleni International Hospital. The reason is because the time just suits me. I brought him after his class from Little Lamb and we reached the hospital at about 12 plus. It's more than half an hour journey due to the traffic. Our queue number is 40 and at that time it's only 25 (the queue number).

It's not fun to handle Dave alone in the waiting room. Finally at 2 o'clock, we went in and consult with the Doctor. As usual, the Doctor asked him to lie down and he cried. Remember the trauma that he had in the hospital the other time?

Well, then the Doctor checked the stomach and the anus. Dave has an acute constipation. Thus the doctor had this prescription Lactulax or lactulose. It's so called to make the feces softer? Everyday 10ml for a week, then reduce to 5ml for another week. If it's getting better than we can just stop the medicine.

Another thing is we have to control his diet. The doctor suggests the following things to be done:
1. Drink milk that you can get in any cold storage in the market, mall, or anywhere. Just like Ultra milk. Drink it every morning for 75 ml only.
2. Feed him with the fruits that full of fiber everyday, such as papaya, soursop, prune, jelly, etc.

Oh yah, the constipation is actually not a big idea. The thing that make it worse is, he's reluctant to poo coz it hurts everytime he poo. Thus, the feces is getting harder and then the same cycle repeat again and again.

So far, there are a few things that Dave loves to do or has achieved. He loves to clean up the floor by using his cloth or anything he can reach for. (He sees our maid clean up the home too much). He also loves to spray the water by using the hose. He can say mama, papa, nai-nai (grandmo from Mr. said), wet, duduk (sit in Indonesia), minum (drink in Indonesia), star, moon, cat, pig, car, book, blue, water, flower, two (he just miss one), bye-bye, bird, ear, nose, mouth, head, and so on... Oh yah, the favourite word... Bath...

Then he is able to complete the following word when we sing Twinkle twinkle Little Star... Star, Are, High, Sky....
and then One little two, little three, little Indian.... and he finishes the last part... "boy"...

Risks of Having Chilren

Is that a must to have a child in every marriage life? In every marriage life, most of the couples would like to have at least one child.

Reasons are varied from inheritance to hope to belief. Inheritance maybe for those people who are wealthy enough that might need someone to inherit their wealth. Meanwhile, some people need children so that their children can take care of them when they get old. Others are for egoism reasons, as every marriage need to have children, if they don't have, then something is wrong.

Actually having children are a mixer of a little bit of risk, worry, and happy. Starts from pregnancy, delivery, and till the end of our day. During the pregnancy, we are already worried if the fetus is going to be complete, fine, healthy, etc. Same thing during the delivery time. Will be both baby and mother turns out to be alright.

Dave was hospitalized on Friday night as the fever reached 39 Celsius plus. He had the infusion which is a very sad thing to see. He was wrapped with blanket and there were 4 nurses needed to hold his hand during the infusion time. Meanwhile, me and Mr. held his feet and tried to calm him. He`s very strong. The sad thing was to see him crying while looking at me and asking for help.

He`s hospitalized for 3 days and 2 nights. The doctor said that fever normally caused by 2 things, which are virus and bacteria. Dave`s fever was caused by a very light virus. Respiratory virus. The doctor didn`t give any medicine. Only infusion. Anti-biotic is also not necessary as it's not caused by bacteria.

Honestly, it kinda makes me worry to give Dave a sibling. As worries will be there as long as we alive.

Dave has fever for couple of days already. It started since Wednesday night, but it's getting better in the afternoon. He still went to school at Thursday morning. Then, the fever back again at night. I brought him to dr. Johan at Bangka street in the morning, so he had to skip school. Anyway, it's not good for him to go to school also as the fever is still quite high, 37.8 celcius.

The doctor did give him medicine. He prefers traditional medicine though, so it's kinda hard to make him eat the medicine that the doctor gave.

Then for tomorrow Valentine, it seems like we have to stay at home. :(
Mr. and friends actually already reserved a place at Sushi Tei, but then with this condition, it's impossible for us to go out. Though Dave is getting better now. No more fever.
Gosh... I love Sushi Tei so much... but then.. I am a mom... cannot be selfish... have to choose between Sushi and baby who is in his recovering phases....
