Silent 2011

A couple hours to 2012...
Had given up lots of things in 2011 and things were not that great this year except Djo....
Missed the chance to be a tour leader due to the pregnancy factor and no one was willing to take care of Djo...Otherwise I should be somewhere in Vietnam as a tour leader....
The dream that I had in mind for years that I had to let go.....
It's not that am complaining... but 2011 was not that good and lets hope to have a better year ahead....

Dave fell asleep as he was exhausted and Djo is sleeping too....
I should have join the family reunion and barbeque in Green Hill...yet I don't think it's a good idea to bring Djo to along... It's better for her to stay at home at this age.....

I think it has been years that my new year's eve stays silent.....The best was in 2008 Oz's trip.

White Tongue Still There.... and the Head Still Bold

Djo is exactly 3 months and 8 days now.
I missed her immunization 3 days as I thought it's 24 (mistaken with her Chinese lunar day). She had Rotavirus and PCV immunization. I forgot to rub her thigh that had the jab, as a result it's a bit swollen right now. Sorry Djo.... :(

Djo is a very talkative baby gal as she loves people chat with her all the time when she is awake. The white tongue still there even though has clean her mouth by using cloth that deeps with the tea. Can hardly see her hair growing....

Dave is extremely happy

6 weeks baby not Pooping

Djoanne is exactly two months old tomorrow. Will go for the immunization tomorrow. From the previous immunization, she was not gaining too much weight and it's below average. It's totally different from Dave ^^.
Hopefully this time it will be on the average.

She enjoys to take bath so much. The only problem with her is the white tongue. Tried everything to remove the milk, but it's still there. Dave was having this problem also, but then I forgot how we solved it.

I am still breastfeeding her with addition of 60 ml - 120 ml of formula each day. Since she was 6 weeks, her poops were not regular and I were worried when she didn't poo for 3 days. I browsed the Internet and it says that it's normal for baby who is on bf not to poo everyday. When I were about to bring her to the doctor for consultation, she pooped. The stools were not hard. Since then she only poo every 3 - 7 days. Today she pooped and the last time she pooped was exactly 7 days ago.

Officially in 3rd Gear

Yes... am officially in 3rd gear today.
What have I achieved in the last 10 years of life? Following were some of the huge things in life so far.
20 years old - Graduated from Diploma from UCSI in Malaysia
21 years old - Experienced a student life in Canada
22 years old - Graduated from Bachelor degree from U of Winnipeg in Canada
26 years old - Opening a new chapter of marriage life
26 years old - Gave birth to Dave
30 years old - Gave birth to Djoanne
30 years old - Graduated from Master degree from U of Ballarat

However, sometimes I think life for the past four years were very stagnant. This is getting worse when I completely stopped working and loss my personal social life. Living in Malaysia for 3.5 years and Canada for almost 2 years made me have different kind of perspectives towards marriage life. The marriage life that I am experiencing is totally different from the marriage life that I ever thought and saw in overseas. Sometimes I think that I got married too early.

Absolutely I love my precious 2 kidos more than anything in the world for sure. However, I still think that I need to have a personal life to make it balanced. I hate it when people said, so you want to have your own life and abandon your two children? I think those people have no brains. There are things that we need to do when we are still young and still able to do. If I missed that, I am afraid that regret will come in the future.

For those people who haven't married and realized that you are not a stayed home mom. I would advise you to talk to your partner before the marriage. Make some arrangement to have your own time in the marriage life and after you have kids too.

We'll see what will happen in the next couple of years.

As usual no celebration, no birthday cake, just a gift.

Djoanne Bryan Tanady

She arrived in this world at her 37 weeks on 21 September 2011 with the weight of 2970 gram and the height of 47 cm. It's way earlier than expected as the Expected Delivery Date is on 10 October 2011 and we planned to go for the c-section on 1 October 2011. I were supposed to check with the doctor again on 21 September and as usual I would prefer to go for USG. However, the doctor was surprised and said that the water (amnion) just enough to cover the baby. So, without this amnion, we couldn't see how is the baby inside the tummy. Decision has to be made, go for the C-Section straight away.

I didn't realise that the water was leaking as I didn't experience it and my knowledge was the water would came out when it's due and not leaking.

This time we chose Stella Maris Hospital and not Rosiva (the hospital where Dave was born) as it's newer and the most important thing is the bed. Rosiva uses Spring Bed like the home bed that was very inconvenience for C-Section patients; especially on the first and second day after delivery. The next reason is at Stella Maris, the patients don't have to worry to bring the shirts to the hospital. Stella Maris is pretty much like the "hotel" for the patients.

Mamak Store - Roti Telur

One of my favorite food while I were studying in KL was Roti Telur and Roti Tissue. When I came back home, I couldn't find anyone who sell them. Most of the time, they just sell Martabak and Roti Cane. I can only eat them when I go to KL.

Yesterday, I were driving home, and I saw a new stall in the coffee shop around my home. The stall's name is Craven Penang food. Then I wonder, why have to be Penang? But, the point is, I can uncheck the craving list during my pregnancy now..... Sigh, I still crave for AirAsia Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak.

Btw.... we cancelled to fly... This pregnancy has made me sacrifice lots of things.... from being a freelance tour leader to Australia and our investment in traveling......^^

Travel Dilemma

Idul Fitri is getting closer. I had decided to let go our KL and Spore trips a few months ago. However, when things are getting closer to the date, I become indecisive either to go or not to go. I will be in my 35 weeks when I come back from the trip. So, technically, I still can board. The traveling date are from 25 August to 5 September with total 4x ride in the airplane that is less than an hour.

When I think all the fun that we might get, especially we are going as the large group. It's kinda waste not to go and Mr. would love to go. Will it be any risks if I still fly? I have been reading a lot from the Internet and there are lots of pros and cons statements...

Playgroup Graduation....???

I think today education is kinda rushed. Everyone is sending their children to school in an early age and therefore schools are opening in every corner. If like this, how can they get business? Promotion? Maybe one of this is like this?

Look at the smile.... what a fake smile right... ^^

Dave First Day @ Sutomo School...

Today is Dave first day at Sutomo school. He is in Kindergarten A now. He is totally growing compare to the first time when he was enrolled at Little Lamb. In each class, there are about 40 students and luckily starting this year onwards, the playgroups and the kindergartens classes are located in the newly built building. I would say that Dave's mother tongue is English, thus at the moment he is having difficulty in talking in Bahasa and Chinese. He understands some words but having problems in making sentences. Meanwhile, Sutomo school deliver the lessons in Bahasa. Hopefully Dave will be able to catch up....

The school fee is Rp 210.000 + meal Rp 70.000 + Books Rp 310.000.

Oh yah... The Lego was the present from grandfather as he is able to maintain his reputation at Little Lamb.  The study table, Mr. brought it from Jakarta at the Jakarta Fair with a very good deal.

Business Card Exchanged with a Large Pan of Pizza

It's either a few weeks or a few months ago we went to Sun Plaza Pizza Hut. Oh I remember now, it was after Dave's performance at his school (Open House things). If I were not mistaken, Mr. saw something on the table where people can drop the business card. So, he did drop the business card.

Yesterday, Mr. received an email from Pizza Hut mentioned that we are entitled for a large Pan of tuna Pizza. The offer is only valid for a week. So.... It's Pizza night.....^^ We never think of getting anything like this...... ^^

Jakarta Trip 10 June - 17 June 2011

Jakarta was never listed as our holiday destinations. Things are expensive and the most important is the transport is not convenience. So why did we go there this time? Well, Mr.'s close friend was having his wedding ceremony in Jakarta. So, Mr. wanted to go and I took this chance as the best time to travel before another new member arrive somewhere in October. The wedding was actually at 19th but then my Master's final exam was on the 18th. So I have to change the flight for me and Dave from 22nd to 17th and it costs extra Rp. 240.000 for 2.

Luckily the flight was not the low cost carrier, which means that we still can adjust the departure and arrival date. Unlike the Idul Fitri trip that we have to let go in August. The Medan - KL - Medan and KL - Singapore - KL flights are booked in August with pretty good deals. However, I will be in my 34 weeks and not sure if I will be able to fly at that time.

Back to the topic. Jakarta indeed is a very nice place to visit. Except the public transport that is not convenience at all. Luckily we stay with Mr.'s aunt and so fortunate that one of her daughter was taking leave from work. So, technically, she's driving us all over the place.

As usual, Dave was very excited to ride on airplane. He asked what is the name of the airlines that we were flying with. We went to Jakarta with Citilink and flew back with Lion Air. He is demanding to fly with airlines that start with B alphabet next time.

Nothing much on the first day. On the second day we went to Mall of Indonesia (MOI) and lets Dave played a bit. Surprisingly, I bumped into Tonton, my Grade 10 classmate that I haven't seen for years. MOI has a great stuffs for children to enjoy.

On the third day, we went to Pasific Place. Here, I met Nat for dinner. Yeah, things are not the same anymore. College life we used to hang out, but we can only met for couple of hours during this visit.

Nat, Me, and Louis

Mr's Third Aunt (3i) and her daughters

Dave and his 3 aunts.... ^^

Dancing fountain at Pasific Place. Dave loves it so much.

On the fourth day, we went to Bandung. There a few places to visit in Bandung. However, due to time limitation, we just went to Tangkuban Perahu.

Stagnant Blog

My blog has been stagnant for couple of months. Actually I have lots of things to write but I just cannot find the time. I thought that after I took 1 semester off, then I will be able to update my blog. However, it's just the same. Apparently, household works are more than the office works. Restless. Things can get more hectic at home than at the office. Similar to when you are dealing with kids, it's like endless work compare to the household works.

Things that I have missed to write that maybe I will write again when I have time. The first was my Vietnam's trip, then Chinese New Year and many more. The most important part is actually the feeling when I found me pregnant again. It was about 20 weeks ago. I am in my 25 weeks now. So, it's about 3 months time before a new member join us in the family.

After sometimes, I realized that I won't be able to have a proper career path in my life anymore. After a few years, I just realized that it was all over at the time when I decided to get married. So, sometimes when I recall back, I might think that maybe it would be better when I don't get married in the earlier age. There are like lots of things that I haven't done in life and yet I couldn't do it anymore due to the responsibility of marriage life. For example, I were being asked to be a tour leader to Australia in this coming August. Well, I always wanted to do that in my earlier age, but no chance. Now, the opportunity is here, but I cannot take it anymore. So, the financial wise is not that great on my side.... ^^

Well, that was when I talked about the career path. However, when I looked at Dave. He's like the best in life that I ever get. No words will be able to describe the feelings...

The New Ugly Duckling ~ City Adventure

The New Ugly Duckling ~ City Adventure by VTech is the story book that Dave needs to listen every single night for almost 1 month in a row till today. There are about 18 pages and it's actually quite tiring to read for him every day and not to forget other stories books also. However, these readings are worth something as Dave can read certain words by himself now. He can even memorize the first 3 pages of The New Ugly Duckling almost perfect. So basically, sometimes when he's in the mood, he will read the first 3 pages for me and I will continue the rest. ^^

He can memorize days start from Sunday and every morning when he wakes up he will ask what is the day today. Usually he doesn't like Wednesday and Friday since those are the time he will have his Mandarin lesson. For the first few months he will be crying when it's Wed or Fri. I think he was just trying the new trick whether he can get something by crying. Apparently no, thus the Wed or Fri these days are OK already.

The Kid has to Go Back to the School where His Parent Went?

We finally made a decision to move Dave to national school instead of national plus school. The choice is at Sutomo School. He is going to Kindergarten A in July.

Like years ago, in order to register to Sutomo school, if you would like to register first, then you need to have a recommendation letter. It doesn't mean people with no recommendation letter cannot register. It's just that they have to register in the later date. This year, the school registration date for people whom have the letter is opened on 21 and 22 March.

Luckily a cousin's mother-in-law is working in the Sutomo school in the Kindergarten department. I asked a favour from her if she could get the letter for us and apparently yes. So, we went to register yesterday, 21 March, and when we reached there it was about 7.45. There were lots of people waiting already and I didn't even know what time they got there. My queue number was 67 and we have to wait for almost 2 hours before we got in for the registration. It costs about Rp 1.9 million (1USD = Rp 8700).

The school starts in July 11 and he is enrolled in the class A9.

Cougar Town

I am not a TV person that can spend time in watching TV shows series. Recently, a friend of mine introduced this TV show "Cougar Town" and apparently it's quite hilarious and it's only 30 minutes show. I am interested in in because she said that Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox from FRIENDS are starring. I love FRIENDS. I watched it and apparently Jennifer Aniston is just the guest and that's totally fine since Courtney Cox as Jules is quite rocked in the show.

This Cougar Town is the comedy drama series that talk about Jules (Courtney Cox) as a recently divorced mother who explores the honest truths about aging in each own beauty and dating. I also loves the relationship of Jules and Travis (her son) in this drama.

A Question from Three Years and Five Months Toddler

Dave sees lots of pregnant women these days. These women always tell him about the baby in the stomach. Some of the women with early pregnancies, the tummy are not that big yet, and some are really showing already. He is aware that there is baby in the tummy. So, I were pretending to tell him that there is baby in mommy's tummy. Then he will really show his love and talk to the "baby" in the tummy. This morning, he was kinda pointing to my breast and asked "So, who is in there?"......... ('coz he thinks that everything big has baby inside... ^^)
Honestly, I were quite stunned and I didn't know what to answer. So, after a few seconds, finally I told him that there is nothing in there. The babies are exists only in the tummy.

When is the best time to educate him about human anatomy?

How to Create Page Numbers (Page X of Y) with Cover Page and Table of Content in the Same Document by Using MS. Word 2007?

This might be out of topic. But, some of my students ask for it and it's tedious to send through email one at a time.
