Why Say No to Drugs and Not Say No to Gamble?

Say No to Drugs is like today proverb.
People realize the effects of doing drugs thus they are doing campaign in order to prevent people from doing drugs. However, does people ever realize the danger of gambling? If you think of it, which one is worse? Gamble or drugs? I guess they carry the same ratio. If this is the case, why there is no campaign of "Say No to Gamble"?

I am writing this based on the observation to a close friend where her mother is addicted in gambling. Her mom keeps thinking of getting rich easily and her mom thinks that gamble is the only way out. Indirectly, my friend suffers from her mom's behavior. Her mom keeps asking for a certain amount of huge money that my friend has to work for a few months to collect the money. Usually that amount of money is gone within a couple of days. Work for 3-4 months and waste it in 2-3 days.

I believe that my friend's case is not the only case in the world. There are more cases regarding gambling. There might be people who would like to take care of it and start campaign of this?

Your friend's case is still mild. Here in Malaysia, recently there was news about a Gambler Dad who sold off his 3 year old daughter to settle his debt.

Problem with drugs is the effect is visible to the person's own body, however effect of gambling stays beneath.

It's always easy to say NO to something that is visible right?

Yeah... that's why... I kinda feel that the percentage of the effect of gambling is higher than drugs. Well.. someone should take action..

In a way, government has banned gambling. However, it only leads it to become an underground activities, which is just like drug, yeah?

Hm.. I think it is impossible for government to ban gambling as it's the most important income for the country. Look at Singapore today... How many tourists that visit the casino...
